At first, try a really powerful way to clear your pipes. At the very beginning, slowly pour very hot water into your sink, this will help soften any lingering food debris and dirt.

Next:

  • Take 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1/4 cup of salt. Mix them together and pour them down the drain,
  • Warm up the vinegar until it comes to a boil and pour the previous ingredients over it,
  • Quickly cover the drain to prevent the resulting foam from overflowing,
  • Wait 15 to 30 minutes. Finally, rinse the whole thing with plenty of hot water.

#2 Vinegar and Baking Soda

Vinegar and baking soda is a world classic when it comes to the problem of clogged pipes. This simple and quick way is a solution used by our grandmothers, it is effective and very cheap.

  • Pour some boiling water down the drain. In this case you can stick to the rule “the more the better” so you can even pour a whole kettle of water.
  • Then add 0.5 – 1 cup of baking soda and let it sit for a few minutes.
  • Mix the boiling water and vinegar in a 1:1 ratio and add the baking soda on top.
  • Cover the drain to let the concoction work its way inside. You can use a plug, a piston of anything else.
  • Pour in another cup of hot water. Afterwards, rinse the whole thing.

#3 Salt and Boiling Water

A gentler option to clean your pipes is salt and boiling water. Since this method is not as strong as the previous ones, you can use it several times. The salt cleans the pipe from the inside, removing bacteria and odors, and the boiling water helps dissolve the whole thing.

  • Take half a cup of salt and pour it into the sink.
  • Take a kettle of boiling water and pour the salt over it.
  • Turn off the hot water from the tap and rinse the hole more thoroughly.
  • Repeat if you feel it is necessary.

If you have hair and residue of beauty products lingering in your pipes, you can take a strap and cut it and then place it in the drain. Now move it up and down and side to side. Dirt should start to collect on the diagonally cut zip tie, which will help you get it out of the pipes.

#5 Metal Hanger

You can do the same thing with a metal hanger. Take pliers and bend the hanger so that it is straight. Leave a slight bend at its end (make a small hook). This trick will come in handy when unclogging the sink in the kitchen and bathroom.

#6 Use a Plunger

A plunger is one of the cheaper and more effective ways to unclog your sink. If you have one in your home, you don’t have to worry about buying other products. If you have a sink with two compartments, plug one of the drains. Then apply the pusher to the other opening, turn on the tap and fill the sink with water until it covers the pusher. Using all of your strength, suck on the squeegee, repeat 6-10 times and then remove the object. If the water runs off without a problem, you’ve done the trick. If not, repeat the process. When you have unclogged the sink, run hot water over the pipes.
