DIY Gnome Christmas Ornaments

Ever heard of sock gnomes? My kids and I just learned how to make a sock gnome over Thanksgiving break, and I am going to have an entire family of these adorable gnomes come Christmas. So much fun to make, easy to do and they all turn out differently but super cute.

My children and I get very bored over the holidays and things can easily go haywire at a moments notice, so to keep everyone on track, I keep boxes of projects that I can pull out and put in the middle of the table and seat them quietly all round to focus their attention on their own creative spirit. I keep a few boxes of sock projects on hand and one of my favorites is the DIY Sock Gnome. This is such a cute, fun project, everyone from old to young love it. I started this project by first getting all my materials together: A small bottle brush tree, a craft store wood slice, a bell, felt, chunky yarn, faux fur, wooden beads, pom-poms, a sock, string, fiberfill, various assorted embellishments, scissors, my trusty hot glue gun, and glue sticks. Then I just cut the top ribbing of my sock to make a hat for the gnome, then slipped it over the bottle brush tree and hot glued it shut with a string loop inside it to use as a tree hanger.

Then I just cut my DIY Christmas Gnome a little beard and hot glued it on under his hat.

Then I just attached a little wooden bead for his nose.
