About the Artist Founded in 2011 as a tribute to Maine, Love Rocks Me® began when the owner created and photographed a map of Maine using a collection of hundreds of heart rocks she's collected over the years from the Maine coast. The artist was honored to receive the SBA award for Maine and New England’s Home-Based Business of the Year. The original size of her flat-lay art is between 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 feet wide/long. Each design is laid out on large sheets of foam core and then carefully moved outdoors where she climbs a ladder to photograph it under diffused sunlight (beneath a canopy). The effect of this light brings out the natural beauty in each heart rock and adds a three-dimensional, realistic character to the art in print. While she is a sole proprietor, her 88-year old friend and neighbor (who ski’s, kayak’s, and cycles!) is her rock star who works part-time in the studio along with other friends and neighbors who lend a hand. And her sweet Westie, Winston always leads her to discovering more heart rocks on their beach walks. |
